What do “computer diagnostics” mean?
The term “computer diagnostics” refers to a repair shop diagnosing a problem in a vehicle using only one set of tools and running a simple computer scan.
The car diagnostic can tell you the following about the vehicle: ignition timing issues, level of buildup in the combustion engine, fuel injector performance, whether the ignition coils are firing, air and coolant temperature, problems associated with the transmission, oil tank, gas tank, exhaust system and other components of the vehicle. By hooking the car up to the computer diagnostics machine, our technicians can determine whether the problem stems from electrical issues, a bad sensor, or a faulty mechanism in the vehicle.
An automobile technician must not only be highly trained in more than just the basics of vehicle repair, but also must understand computer diagnostics to properly service and maintain a vehicle. One thing you should know is that technicians cannot perform computer diagnostics unless they have the most modern equipment. Most people understand that computers are constantly evolving – so do cars. This means that an old computer diagnostics machine simply will not work on a more modern car.
